Door's & Window's - to open or not to open, that's the question.
I've always been told, that when one door closes another one opens, or in some cases, a window. For many of us, we see or stay hopeful those opportunities will come to us when we need them. But there are others, who for one reason or another see their opportunity closing, and that's it! No more doors or windows.
In my experience, I find many people telling me that their opportunity window to start another career, or a new business, has closed because they feel they may be too old, too settled in their job, too many responsibilities to take risks, to just plain frozen from fear of doing anything to change their current situation. And no matter how much we don't want this to be true, but ageism affects how we think about our chances of success if we are over 40 or 45 years old. Sadly, many organizations or those with the purse strings for investing, don't see that with age, comes tremendous wisdom and life experiences that can't be replicated, or learned in books.

As the eternal optimist, I choose to believe that there are ways for us to get what we need and want at any age, any stage in our careers, and any situation if we can believe in ourselves enough. You can always take it slowly by starting a new business as a side hustle, see how it goes! Learn a new skill or technology to get that job you've always dreamed of. Go back to University. Just what is it that you want to do. With the right coaching and encouragement, you can find a way. And as Douglas Adams says - I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be.
To help support diversity and inclusion for women, LGBTQIA+, and minority groups, VINN Marketing is starting a new networking group called Doors & Windows (in short, DoorWins) to help anyone that is at mid career level or higher, who has taken the plunge, wants to take a new direction or just wants to be around others who will help inspire you to reach your intended visions and dreams. By this time in 2021, we aim to have our first Top 45 over 45 DoorWins Awards for those who defy convention and make it happen! At any age!
